OR-101 ORIENTATION/SAFETY I
This course covers Industry orientation, hand tool safety, power tool safety, and OSHA 10.
OR-102 HEALTH & SAFETY CERTIFICATIONS
This course covers Forklift, First Aid/CPR, and Welded Frame Scaffold Erector Certifications.
BP-1E BLUEPRINT 1
This course is the first of two classes in blueprint reading.
This course will cover such topics as construction drawings,
lines and symbols, freehand sketching, and pictorial drawings.
The purchase of the book "Print Reading for Construction" is
necessary. The price is approximately $35.00.
C-114 BUILDERS LEVEL AND TRANSIT
This course covers the use and applications of the builders
level for establishing elevations and grades. The conventional
system of measuring angles using degrees, minutes, and
seconds on venier scales will be taught in the transit
portion of this class.
F-103 WALL FRAMING I
This class provides an introduction to the theory
and practice of wall framing. Beginning with the
reading of floor plans, students learn to layout
wall locations, plate, detail, and lay out openings
and structural connections.
F-201 FLOOR FRAMING
Beginning with blueprint reading and building codes,
students learn to layout and construct residential and
commercial floor systems. Fall protection practices are
presented along with construction technology.
F-302 ROOF FRAMING I
Roof construction is one of the most interesting
and satisfying facets of carpentry. This basic course will
introduce rafter theory and layout, and different methods
of rafter length calculation. Students will construct a
gable roof using both conventional and truss methods.
C-103 FOUNDATIONS AND FLATWORK
This course describes forming methods and applications for
different types of foundations and flatwork in construction
today. After instruction in jobsite safety, blueprint reading,
and related mathematics, the student will construct formwork
for the various structures. An introduction to the use of the
builders level will also be covered.
C-106 WALL FORMS
This course pertains to forming methods for reinforced
concrete walls. Along with blueprint reading, estimating,
and introduction to form design, hands-on training in single-
and double-waler forming systems is included.
C-112 STAIRS AND RAMP FORMING
This course teaches the various techniques used to
form stairs and ramp structures. State and Federal building
codes pertaining to stairs and ramps will be covered in this
class. This class requires a calculator.
FC-104 CABINET INSTALLATION
This course is designed to allow the students to
install base and wall hung cabinets. Scribing is an
important part in cabinet installation and is also
covered in this course.
FC-106 RESIDENTIAL MOLDINGS & TRIM
Moldings and trims are an attractive way to
finish off any room. This course is designed to
cover the many different moldings and their installations.
FC-110 INTRODUCTION TO DOOR HARDWARE
This class covers doors and door hardware from
different perspectives including print reading,
door schedules, hardware schedules, specifications
and manufacturer’s catalogs. Identification plays a
big part as well as safety, both general jobsite and
power tools used in the industry, OSHA related regulations
and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The course
will review the fire code that governs the hardware industry.
DW-103 BASIC LAYOUT & FRAMING / MATERIAL ID & TRIMS
This course will focus on the basics of material
identification, print layout, framing, drywall lath & application
and proper trim application needed for the Drywall/Lath industry.
Projects will be assembled using all this information. Hand tools
are mandatory.
C-115 WELDING
This course is a two (2) week class designed to teach
students the basic techniques of arc welding.
