F-103 WALL FRAMING I
This class provides an introduction to the theory and practice of wall
framing. Beginning with the reading of floor plans, students learn to
layout wall locations, plate, detail, and lay out openings and structural
connections.
F 104 WALL FRAMING II
This class covers layout, assembly, and erection of both
standard and raked walls. Included are bracing, plumbing,
and aligning, with an emphasis on safe work practices.
F-201 FLOOR FRAMING
Beginning with blueprint reading and building codes,
students learn to layout and construct residential and
commercial floor systems. Fall protection practices are
presented along with construction technology.
F-202 STAIR BUILDING I
Stair construction is an integral part of the carpenter’s trade.
This course presents stair theory, related mathematics, code requirements,
and basic layout. Students will cut and erect a straight run stair.
F-203 STAIR BUILDING II
Building on the concepts presented in Stair Building I, this course
covers winders, u-shaped and radius stair building, as well as code
requirements and construction of handrails.
F-204 EXTERIOR DETAILS I
Beginning with reading blueprints related to building
exteriors—elevations, sections, and schedules—this course
will cover the construction of structural and architectural
elements such as balconies, fireplaces, bay windows, columns,
and pop-outs.
F-301 EXTERIOR DETAILS II
A continuation of F-204, this course will review the
reading of relevant drawings and include window installation,
door and window trims, and various sidings and trims.
F-302 ROOF FRAMING I
Roof construction is one of the most interesting and satisfying
facets of carpentry. This basic course will introduce rafter theory
and layout, and different methods of rafter length calculation.
Students will construct a gable roof using
both conventional and truss methods.
F-303 ROOF FRAMING II
A continuation of F-302, this course reviews rafter theory,
and covers hip and intersecting roofs,
blind valley, and dormer construction.
F-304 RESIDENTIAL METAL FRAMING
This course introduces the student to the technology of
metal framing. Covered will be tools and materials, floor
and wall construction, including openings and structural
connections, and metal truss roof systems.
F-401 COMMERCIAL FRAMING
The thrust of this course will be commercial blueprint reading,
along with an introduction to balloon
wall framing and panelized roof systems.
