R-101 ORIENTATION/SAFETY
Introduction into the carpentry program. Hand tool
safety, power tool safety, math, beginning blueprint
reading and layout will all be covered. Students will
also go through an OSHA 10 class.
OR-102 HEALTH & SAFETY CERTIFICATIONS
This course will primarily focus on Health & Safety certifications,
safety and math. Certifications can be earned in Forklift/Gradall,
American Red Cross/CPR, Aerial Lift/Scissor Lift, and Scaffold Erector.
FC-103 BASIC CABINETRY
This course will give students the skills to build simple
cabinets including stock billing, basic joinery, materials
and basic blueprints used in cabinet construction.
FC-104 CABINET INSTALLATION
This course will teach students how to install
base and wall-hung cabinets. Scribing, the use
of various types of hangers / fasteners and trade specific
blueprints will also be included in this cabinet installation class.
FC-105A SHOW CASES/LOOSE FIXTURES
Store fixtures come in a wide variety of styles and finishes.
This course covers how to identify, set, and electrify show cases.
Loose (vendor) fixtures will be introduced due to the various types used
in today’s malls and marketplaces.
FC-105B COMMERCIAL FIXTURES/STRUCTURES
Introduction into commercial fixtures and structures to
include valances, fin-walls, end walls, panel systems and
fixture settings. Store specifications (bibles) will also be
reviewed to locate and to identify vendor type fixtures for
display and decorative applications.
FC-105C FITTING ROOMS/PARTITIONS/MISCELLANEOUS FIXTURES
This course gives an overview of the layout and installation of
these three critical components: fitting rooms, partitions and
miscellaneous fixtures in the completion of many commercial jobs.
FC-106 RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL MOLDING
Moldings and trims are an attractive way to finish off a residential
or commercial project. This course covers many different moldings and their
installation for decorative applications. Coping techniques for crown and
other moldings is an important part of this training.
FC-107 PLASTIC LAMINATES
This course covers the fabrication and installation of
plastic laminates on horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Cutting and scribing are also taught in this class.
FC-108 SOLID SURFACE
Today’s carpenters must keep up with new and exciting technologies.
This class teaches students to fabricate, install and repair solid surface materials.
FC-109 STAIR TRIM
This challenging class offers carpenters the opportunity to
fabricate and install the finish components associated with fine-finish staircases.
FC-110 WOOD INSTALLATION, METAL DOOR FRAMES/MACHINING, PLANING & SWINGING A BOOK DOOR
This class covers the setting of various types of wood and metal door jambs
and the swinging of doors. Introduction into the techniques and tools used
in this specialty to prep and swing a door.
FC-111 MACHINING AND INSTALLATION OF DOORS FOR CYLINDRICAL, MORTISE AND DEADBOLTS
This class covers the proper selection and installation of various types
and models of hardware. The safety and demonstration of the various power
tools used to prep doors for the different types of locksets will be covered.
FC-112 Exit Hardware/Panic Hardware/Closers/Stops/Smoke Seals & Surface Vertical Rod Exit Devices
This class will cover the proper selection and installation of various
types and models of exit hardware. Shop time will be used to install and
adjust these devices. Also included will be a discussion on a range of
security products and miscellaneous types of door hardware used in the
industry such as flush bolts, kick plates, etc.
FC-113 CONCEALED VERTICAL ROD (CVR)/INTRO TO ELECTRIC SECURITY PRODUCTS
This class gives the student an overall understanding of mechanical door closers,
low energy power operator, life safety codes and products that dictate the type of
electrified product required for specific doors.
FC-114 INGERSOL-RAND ARCHITECTURAL HARDWARE (IRAH) CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Prerequisites: FC-110, FC-111, FC-112 and FC-113, or verification of at least five years
experience in the hardware industry. Students must achieve 90 percent accuracy in a hardware
identification test to proceed into the installation phase.
FC-115 WELDING (LIGHT GAGE)
This course is designed to teach the practical skills
needed for the arc welding processes and applications.
Students can learn the practical skills to successfully
pass the AWS light gage certification.
